On a 2008 Trek 2.3 bicycle, is it possible to upgrade the Shimano 105 drive train to a Dura-Ace drivetrain?

Yes, you can.
But it may be more cost effective to just buy a complete new bike. Also keep in mind that the difference between dura ace and 105 is about 465 grams, or 1.02 pounds. The difference between a stock pair of bontrager wheels and a pair of mavic ksyrium elite's is probably about 300 grams or 0.66 pounds. And that'll set you back about $650.
You will have to pretty much replace the entire gruppo, very little of it will be mix and match.
Competitive Cyclist charges $2600 for a dura ace gruppo. For that kind of cash, you can buy a brand new full-carbon bike with 105/ultegra OR an aluminum framed bike with dura ace. Which you could then transfer to your 2.3 and then sell the frame.
If you are going to spend some cash to upgrade your bike, put it into some lightweight, aero wheels. That is where you will probably shed the most weight. That is also where it is most important to reduce weight due to the rotational inertia of the wheels. Also, if you do upgrade to a full-on race bike, you can just swap out the wheels without any problems.
