Having some issues setting up my speedplay zeros?
Hey guys,
I just got a set of speedplay zeros and I'm running into some issues. The pedals are on the bike fine and I've assembled the cleats on my road shoes but for some reason or another I can't clip in. Is there some secret I'm not aware of in the cleat assembly process that's screwing me up? I'm not over tightening the screws or anything like that but it just doesn't feel like the spring is letting the pedal in.
Any help/insights from people who have speedplays would be appreciated.

The SpeedPlay pedals require an amount of downward force to 'clip in'. Try only one pedal at a time. Put the crank at the bottom, center the opening of the cleat on the pedal and step down (or stand up on the pedal and push). The spring, under force, opens and accepts the pedal. To release just turn your heel.... it releases much easier than it clips in. After you feel comfortable with the clip in and release on one side, then move to the other pedal. Then you will be off and running.... errr biking.
As you get used to the action it becomes much easier. I have used speedplays for many years now, you will love them... especially if you have any knee problems!
I would add to read the maintenance section carefully. I use a wax lube on both the cleat and the pedal to keep the friction to a minimum. I also keep them clean and free of dirt and sand.
